19th Century Antique French Ebonised Notary Clerks Desk Counter

£595.00

A 19th century antique French clerk’s desk, rich in history, character, and French charm. Originally utilised by a notary or clerk for sorting correspondence, this versatile statement piece features a beautifully aged, distressed Ebonised finish that perfectly bridges the gap between historic authenticity and modern moody interiors. Historically designed for comfortable standing or high stool work, making it a practical laptop station, lectern, or restaurant host stand. Features 11 deep vertical pigeonholes across two tiers, perfect for organising books, vinyl records, magazines, or paperwork. The top lifts up to reveal a storage section which also has its antique paper print sheet of a collection of French and European coin designs. It also has a single sectional drawer outfitted with a metal cup handle. The original dark painted finish has worn down naturally over decades of use, revealing glimpses of the warm pine wood beneath. Good antique condition. Solid and sturdy. Exhibits a beautifully worn finish with minor scuffs, nicks, and surface character marks consistent with its age and historical commercial use.
