Georgian Antique Mahogany Chippendale Upholstered Armchair

£195.00

Fine Quality Victorian Mahogany Chippendale Armchair, Circa 1880-1900

This handsome and substantial antique English open armchair is crafted from solid mahogany in the highly sought-after Chippendale style, a timeless design classic. It is a high-quality "revival" piece, common from the late 19th or early 20th century, that emulates the elegance of 18th-century originals.

Features classic Chippendale characteristics, including a yoked, serpentine top rail enriched with foliate (leaf) carving, above a finely pierced and carved central back splat.

The shaped arms terminate in elegant scroll handrests and are supported on gracefully curved cabriole legs. These front legs are detailed with acanthus leaf carving at the knee and finish with distinctive ball-and-claw feet.

Constructed from solid mahogany, known for its rich color, durability, and fine grain. The chair possesses a lovely aged patina consistent with an antique item.

The traditionally upholstered drop-in seat pad has been recently covered in a neutral linen fabric.

Structurally sound and comfortable, this well-proportioned chair is suitable for use as a striking desk chair, hall chair, or an elegant occasional armchair.

This chair offers the intricate design and quality craftsmanship of the Chippendale era without the significant cost of a rare 18th-century original.
