19th Century Antique French Foxed Mirror
Dating from the mid-to-late 1800s, mirrors of this impressive size were typically found in grand French homes above fireplaces or in hallways to reflect light and create a sense of vast space.
The design leans toward the Louis Philippe style, which shifted away from excessive ornamentation in favour of simple, refined lines and softly rounded top corners.
The frame features original paint ‘old white and gold’.
The mirror plate is original, the plate has subtle foxing throughout, caused by the aging of the silvering which is a great feature.
